Robert Fein asks about training young ferrets to cuddle instead of
nip and attack. Well, he tried what we did at first (pushing away),
which young ferrets view as "play." Fortunately, both like
Linatone. One thing you may want to try is Bitter Apple spray,
but you should be very wary of this as far as using on one's
person and to train ferrets away from biting -- you may provoke
avoidance rather than cuddling.
Patience, a consistent strong "no," and encouragement of appropriate
play (e.g., play through an intermediary such as a rag) should do
the trick.
