re: the silver turning ferret.  Anais, our 7 yr. old was a "dark sable"
when I got her.  The first winter she even had a nice mask.  She is now
almost *completely* white, most people ask if she's albino.  She did
come intially w/white mitts & breast, which categorized her as a "silver
mitt" in @ least one book.  I am amazed still each time I see her baby
pictures!
