I need help from anyone out there who can offer it.  I have written a letter
to the editor at JAVMA, and he is going to print it, but he needs me to
substantiate a couple of things.  So, could somebody please supply me with
references to:
 
        a)  Numbers of pet ferrets and ferret owners in the U.S. -- either
the census taken last year or FURO stats or something.
 
        b)  Numbers of back-issues in which people talked about their or
their friend's ferret being confiscated.  Or even if people could just write
me notes saying their own ferret was confiscated and relating the story -- I
just have to be able to substantiate that it happens -- it's just never
happened to me.
 
        Please send replies to me directly.
