I'm sorry, I just had to put my two cents in here. I personally
wouldn't go along with it. I would say the government has already
insinuated itself into my life almost everywhere (oh no, a political
discussion on our lovely list :-) ), and I don't favor yet more
legislation: the government _requiring_ me to have a microchip in my
pet (now, I might consider the chip, but this would be voluntary
vs. mandatory).
re tail wagging:
Mine do it when they are playing with each other, usually when looking
down some sort of tunnel at the other ferret.
re nose flicking as antidote to biting:
My position is, I'd do it if I had a normal (and especially: young)
ferret, but not if I had an abused or otherwise frightened one -- for
an abused one, I'd try one of the other two antidotes that are usually
discussed (gross taste or the gagging finger).
