RE: The Greenies
There are several reasons for ferrets to have greenis runny stools. There is,
of course, the dreaded "Green Slime" virus of 1993, which cancelled many
ferrets shows last year. There are also gastro intestinal disorders and such
that can produce green slimy stools, but are short-lived in comparison to
the "killer" Green Slime.  I'm no vet either, but I've seen enough panic caused
by this that I think it warrants more care in reporting it as THE VIRUS. Colds
and flu bounce in and out of ferret colonies all the time. They can produce a
green slimy stool  similar to that found in the killer. I took in a ferret ,
"Maggie" a year ago who had been fed Eukanuba for the first six months of her
 life.  Switching her to Iams cause a 2-day case of the green squirts. After
 that,
she was fine. We see a few cases of green squirts at the shelter occasionally,
but it appears to be just a 24-hour 'bug' that jumps from ferret to ferret.
Isolation and Sanitatiom procedures usually help in shortening the life cycle
of the bug.
