I am interested in finding out how to get rid of that ferret smell.
 
While I find my ferret, Stacy, to be incredibly cute and intelligent, my
problem is that I have to live with roommates (and others) who tolerate
the smell.  However, I would like a better way of controlling the scent.
 
Right now, I bathe my ferret weekly and change the litter every 2-3
days.  Even if I do change the litter more freqently, the smell persists.
 
I use Jonny Cat litter and "Flea-Flea" soap.
 
Stacy hasn't been spayed or descented, and am thinking of getting both
done by an EXCELLENT veterinarian here in Portland (Dr. Kimber Brawley).
WIll this control the smell, or is there more I can do?
 
If not, I may be forced to sell Stacy to a good home...

[Presuming Stacey is female, she must be spayed.  Many people do not
recommend doing the descenting.  After spaying, your ferret will smell
considerably less.  Descenting is somewhat risky, and seldom makes much
difference.]
