 Several messages have been circulating around CIS and other BBS' about rumoured
 legislation in New York State to ban ferrets as pet.  Rumours indicate that the
 legislation would eliminate the requirement for licensing of ferrets in the
 state.  Additionally rumours indicate that several animal rights groups (New
 York State Coalition for Animals and Fund for Animals) oppose the keeping of
 ferrets as pet and are going to try to make ferret ownership illegal in this
 state.
 
 As such,  it is in the interest of ferret owners in NY as well as other states
 to gather forces and block any potential legislation which would ban ferret
 ownership.  I have contacted Sen Nozzolio's office and they are sending a copy
 of Bill S. 4317/a and I will post a message with the gist of the bill as well
 as Upload a copy if necessary.  Once we have a copy, I would appreciate any
 suggestions on how to block this legislative nightmare, should it turn out that
 the rumouurs of banning ferrets are true.
 
 If anyone else knows anything more about this legislative mess please let me
