Last week, we lost our Sparky to Lymphosarcoma.
 
We got Sparky five and a half years ago; she was our first ferret,
and she is the first one we have lost. We miss her a lot.
 
A few days later, we received a card from our vet, which I have
reproduced here.

    "May I extend to you, on behalf of the staff and myself,
     our deepest sympathy on the loss of your pet. We
     understand what you must be feeling and want you to know
     we share in your sadness.
 
     As an expression of our sympathy, we are sending a
     donation in Sparky's name to the Ontario Veterinary
     College's Pet Trust Fund, a fund that supports projects
     to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life
     of companion animals.
 
     In due course, you will receive notification of our
     contribution from the Dean of the College, as well as
     general information about how the Pet Trust functions
     and the work it supports.
