Hello everyone,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, John,
girlfriend, Lynn, and the infamous Gus and Bean (we think so anyway) to
FML.

We have been ferret owners for about 3 months now and I must admit
that when Lynn brought up the idea of getting ferrets (what do you mean
ferret******s*******!!) I was skeptical (a longgggggg story). You see,
Lynn works for the Toronto Humane Society which occasionaly obtains ferrets
and places them up for adoption. Lynn has seen ferrets come and go from
"Adoption" but one look at them, (Gus and Bean...... nameless at the time)
and she HAD to HAVE them! Bringing up the idea to me was another story but
needless to say, somehow I was convinced (need I say more fellas?).

Gus, a male sable, neutered and descented, with his short stubby hind
legs, I mean really short, does the old penguin strut when he walks! No
speed whatsoever unless the sound of the fridge door triggers him to
mysteriously change into Speedy Guszales, the fastest ferret in all of
Mehico!

**Anyone else have a ferret with a stubby hind leg thang going? Is it a
common thing in ferrets?

Bean, a white, black eyed female, also fixed and descented, has a
distinguishing silverish-gray streak above her left hind leg, horizontally
across her thigh to her back end. **Does this signify a different breed
other than a normal white black eyed ferret or is this just a normal
occurence is this particular type?
Unlike Garbage-belly Gus, Bean is the Health food nut in the household (she
eats healthier that we do!). One of her favourite foods are tomatoes which
I had to use to lure her out of a hole in the wall with ( I'll save that
one for Adventures with the Infamous Gus and Bean). Other than slurpin up
Ferretone, SSSHHHH, don't say that to loud, they'll come a runnin, she's a
veggie eatin, pellet chompin, Wheaties type of ferret.

The issue of the 'Ferret's Cage' has been proposed and I have taken on
the task to build onto the existing structure and erect what Lynn will call
the cage of all cages, the home of all homes, the luxurious, FERRET CONDO!
With carpeted ramps, fluffy blankets, the surprise slide, and spiral
tunnels your ferret will bask in comfort.......... for maybe a few minutes
before he/she finds a nice place to sleep!
Any suggestions on cage sizes or what to construct in them?

One more question......

Other than doses of Ferretone, what other suggestions, or maybe newer
products, are there to soften their coats? (Dry skin does not seem to be a
problem)

I have read the latest issue of FML, 781 at this writing, as well as
serveral back issues (definately a good idea) which have already answered
many of the questions that have crossed our minds.

We find FML very informative and look forward to upcoming issues.

By the way, I'm not skeptical anymore!

Regards,

John, Lynn,
Gus and Bean
