You can get a ferret hammock in most big pet stores around here for $12 or
so, but it's very easy to make one for about a dollar. Just go to your
local fabric store and get a package of large grommets (those metal rings
they put on tarps for the ropes to go through). Cut a big piece (we found
that 10 X 15 inches or so is good) of any scrap of heavy cloth -- for
instance, a piece of jeans leg from a pair of cut-offs -- and just hammer the
grommets into the corners, following the directions on the package. You may
want to fold over the corner first for a little extra strength. Add ropes
and suspend from a convenient location.

The biggest advantage of this, of course, is the low price, since you can
get 12 grommets -- enough for 3 hammocks -- for about $2.50. You can also make
the hammock any size you like; we had a mini one for Rusty when he was small
and a large one he and Pixxel can share now.
