Here's a summary of the Michigan ferret bill today in Lansing:
House bill 4495 was in committee, and was overwhelmingly approved to
go to the house. It will be five days, then be submitted to the house.
It is anticipated to pass the house with no problem, and MAY be voted
on in the house in the next week or two. If it passes there, it will
again go to comittee to be introduced into the senate, and once
passing that committee, will need to be passed by 2/3 of the Senate,
after which our Governor must sign it into law. At this time, you
should write your State of Michigan Congressmen, Senators, and the
Governor to support Bill #4495. Contact your local govt. to find the
names of your representatives, ESPECIALLY your Senators, and their
addresses! Here is the address to the Governor: The Honorable John
Engler; Governor, State of Michigan; State Capital; PO Box 30013;
Lansing Michigan 48909. It is recommended you use a post card, be
brief and polite, and mention your request for passage of Bill #4495!
