I use the all elastic kind. The benefit is that in a tight spot the collar
stretches and there's very little danger of the collar choking them by hanging
up on something, getting caught, etc. -- it'll simply stretch.
The drawback is that in a tight spot the collar stretches -- and they can
wriggle out of it. But Macgregor used to keep his on most of the time.

I attached a small medallion-like tag etched with "Phone Home (###)###-####"
It was the perfect size.

I got it from a pet catalog - "Pedigrees" - one for dogs and cats. I had a
1990 issue in my ferret file, I looked for a more recent issue but we're in the
middle of settling into a new house and everything's in disarray. In the 1990
issue, these tags were being advertised as "Petite Name Tags For Cats: Specially
tailored 1" size for cats...Three lines are stamped into the metal with up to 12
letters/line. Please specify names and numbers to be stamped. #H01-0386 .. $295
ea. 3 for $6.99. To place orders by phone, call 716/352-1232 8:15A to 7:30 P
M-F and 9A to 1P Sat (ET) or Mail to 1989 Transit Way, Box 905, Brockport, NY
14420-0905. S&H orders up to $20 =add $3.75."
