Dave,
I haven't seen this in a ferret, but we have one cat who
is allergic to fleas. The other two cats show no real indication
of having fleas unless they get pretty bad, but even a couple of
bites seem to send Vesuvius off into a horrible proliferation of
scabs. For Vesuvius, the treatment is 1) get rid of the fleas, which
never seems to work very well now that we've moved from cold,
very dry Boston to more mild, rainy Philadelphia, 2) cortizone or
similar steroid to help the skin recover.
So, this is one possibility for Stick.
