Hi Beckers, et all!
Sorry, but it MAY have been a hypoglycemic attack, indicating insulonoma
(pancreatic cancer). To quell the attacks, keep Karo Syrup or Nutrical
around, and when an attack occurs, rub it on the gums and tongue. It
will help bring the sugars back in balance. Diet and frequent eating can
help keep the attacks down, and when you see signs of the wobbling or
'glazing of the eyes', give the nutrical while it is still coherent
enough to eat it, it will bounce back more quickly. I'll leave the
treatments and diagnosis and prognosis to the medical professionals
here, I just lost my Rascal (Mr. Personality!!!!!) last fall to it, he
lived two years after diagnosis and surgery QUITE happily and perky
with a good diet (the brand of food made a lot of difference later on
in his energy level!!) right up to the day before we had to have him
put to sleep. I wish you the best, early diagnosis is the best for
treatment. Dr Schiff I referred you to is EXCEEDINGLY proficient in
the treatment of this illness, you MAY wish to consult with him!!!
Paul in MI (Hi Janet, Richard, and all the familiar faces!!!!!)
By the way, we have a person in FL that is moving to HI and is in need
of finding a home for their ferret. It sounds like they MAY be short
term there (a year??) and understand they may not be able to get their
ferret back from new loving owners, but if ANYONE is interested, let
me know, so I can refer you to them. They're on a system I'm on, and
want a LOVING FERRET KNOWLEDGEABLE HOME to adopt their loved one!!
They need a good home by April 21 I believe. Please pass this info on,
with my internet address to any boards you are on, and request a phone
# and location for me to pass via e-mail to this other party!!
THANX! Paul in MI
