I haven't seen this on the mailing list yet, so I'll send it along.
This information comes from the Sept/Oct '93 issue of Weasel Help
Monthly (some paraphrased, some outright copied -- I don't think Bill
Phillips will mind :-)):

State Representative Jan Goldsmith has agree to introduce a ferret
legalization bill into the California legislature in 1994. From
previous contacts it sounds like there may be several other
legislators willing to cosponsor the bill, but Jan Goldsmith will be
the author and sponsor.

So: if you are from California, are a registered voter from CA living
outside the state, reside outside CA and own property in CA, are
planning on moving to CA at some future date, or are living here for
school, vacation, or work purposes, please write a letter of
encouragement and appreciation to:
        Assemblyman Jan Goldsmith
        12307 Oak Knoll, Suite A
        Poway, CA 92064
Or you can phone in your comments to 619-486-5191 or FAX them to
486-3334 (of course, written correspondance is always better than
phoned :-)).

I'm sending this anonymously since I live in California; if you need
to contact me, I can be reached at the Internet mailing address
