I wrote in a little earlier about a problem I've been having with my 3
year old jill.  She seems to get a collection of green stuff around her
vulva opening -- this condition comes and goes.  I've never noticed it
before, but I've not been around her at this time of the year since she
matured (she lived with my husband before we were married).
 
Anyway, we took her to the vet and he couldn't find anything wrong with
her.  He asked us if she was fixed (she is -- all the ferrets sold in
this area [only through pet stores] are sold at about 5-8 weeks, neutered
and descented).  He told us that since she was so little at the time of
the neutering surgery, they probably missed a little part of the ovary
and it's causing her to produce hormones (as if she were going into
heat).  He said that she should be OK (she's still acting fine -- in
fact, a little more aggressive than usual), but we'll be keeping a close
eye on her.  We're just glad she's OK.
 
Just thought I'd let other ferret owners know, just in case someone else
has the same question.  BTW, if you do detect something different in your
little fuzzies, please don't hesitate to take them to the vet.  ASAP.
