The Delaware Valley Ferret Club is proud to present it's 2nd annual
Ferret Fest & Picnic!
When?
Sunday, September 27
1 - 5 PM
Where?
Walter S. Carpenter, Jr. State Park
on Rt. 896, approximately 2 miles North of Newark, DE
(If the weather looks bad, call. We're working on an alternate rain location)
From Points South:
- Take I-95 to Elkton Rd (279) (this is the Last exit in MD before
entering DE) follow signs towards Newark, DE.
- Follow for approx. 2 1/2 miles and you will come to the
intersection with Apple Rd. (ThereUs a 7-11 on the left, and a
Wilmington Trust Bank on the right) Turn Left onto Apple Rd.
- Go over a bridge and the road will dead end onto
Barksdale/Hillside Rd. Turn Right.
- At the 2nd light, turn Left onto 896.
- Follow for approx. 2 1/2 miles. The entrance to Carpenter Park is
on your Right about half a mile before the MD and PA state lines.
From Points North/East:
- Take I-95 to Rt. 273 exit, follow signs towards Newark, DE.
- Follow 273 for about 3 miles (be careful, at about 1 mile 273
makes a sharp left, then turns right at the 2nd light).
- 273 will turn into Main Street, which is a one way street through
Newark. At the end of Main Street the road splits 3 ways, take the
Rightmost fork. You are now on 896.
- Follow for approx. 2 1/2 miles. The entrance to Carpenter Park is
on your Right about half a mile before the MD and PA state lines.
This is a Pot Luck picnic, so bring your favorite Fall Picnic dish!
We will be having many fun Ferret Games, such as Bag Escape, Bobbing for
Fruit, Maze Runs, Heaviest and Lightest Hob and Jill, and Best Dressed.
Ribbons will be awarded in each event!
There will be several Vendors of ferret related goods, and several ferret
shelters with ferrets for adoption at the picnic!
Admission:
AFA/DVFC members: FREE
Non-members: $2.00 (memberships accepted at the picnic)
Park entrance fees:
Each DE registered vehicle: $2.50
Others: $5.00
Important Note: All ferrets attending this event must have proof of
current vaccination for canine distemper and rabies.
All ferrets must be in cages or on leash. Fresh food and water must
be available.
Remember to bring any new or used pet items for our Hurricane Andrew Pet
Relief Drive!!
