Nancy,
Thanks for letting me share a room with you on Friday. It was nice
to have the company & having your ferrets there helped me with my ferret
withdrawal - especially Popcorn. She can come visit anytime.<g>
Congratulations again on her ribbon. She's such a sweet girl. I looked for
you before I left, but didn't see you. I hated to leave without saying
thanks again, but I wanted to get home to familiar roads before dark. It
took less than 3 hrs. I took 15N to the turnpike near Harrisburg & then came
home from there. I'm only about 20 min. from the turnpike so it worked out
fine. Baltimore area always seems too congested for me.
Dr. Williams,
I really enjoyed your seminar on infectious diseases in the ferret.
Would have loved it if you'd had more time. You did a great job of squeezing
an incredible amount of info into an hour. You were very diplomatic as you
tried to sidestep the political issues & keep us on topic. I was afraid we
might get stuck talking about rabies & not get to anything else. The slides
were very informative & not gory. But then I'm a nurse & so it takes alot
for me to consider something gory.<g>
Last Sept. you said something about it being possible to find
ovarian tissue from a botched spay if a female's vulva is swollen. I believe
you were considering exploratory surgery for one of your ferrets to see if
the tissue could be found. Did you ever have it done? Like many other
owners, we also have a female with this problem. I would love to get it
resolved - maybe she'd even settle down & become less savage to the other
ferrets.
[Our vet said that they've been able to find the tissue, provided that the
ferret does have a swollen vulva at the time. CRL]
Have you ever known a ferret to have lymphoma & adrenal tumor at the
same time? Our vet is exploring this possibility now about my youngest
ferret & I am waiting to receive a call back from him in the next day or so.
I can't remember all the lab work he did, but one lab test suggests adrenal
tumor, but the lymph count is high which he says suggest lymphoma. He was
waiting for a call back from Dr. Jim Fox to see what he thought.
Lindi
Chris - I don't know if this will get to you correctly. I've been failing
miserably in my attempts to master sending mail internet. If it doesn't I'll
try the inet help group on Genie & see if they can figure out what I'm doing
wrong.
[I heard from Bill Gruber that GEnie's mail had stopped working, so it may
not have been your fault. Notice that you sent your mail on the 7th, and
it didn't arrive here until after 5am on the 10th. There *is* something
wrong somewhere near your end. (Now that my end is working properly ;-<]
