I have an apartment full of large house plants resting onn the floor and
have *never* had a
plant dug up since I tried this trick. Make sure your plants are in deep
pots. Leave extra space at the top and cover the soil and roots with
large rocks. I found rocks about 6 inches in diameter. Some of the rocks
I found were flat and about 6 by 10 inches in size. My ferret climbed on
the rocks and tried moving them but quickly gave up and I've never had a
problem since. If the layer is thick enough and the rocks are heavy
enough the rocks prevent ferrets
from reaching the soil and don't interfer with watering the plants. The
water rolls down into the pot past the rocks. Good luck!
