Hi,
I'm trying to find help from anyone who may know someone that works
for NYC animal Care and Control, especially the Linden Ave Brooklyn
location.
A guy found a ferret lost in a park, I think it was Grammercy park.
He posted the ferret for free on Craigslist with a picture of a tiny
albino. I sent him an email since he gave no phone number. All of the
inquiries about the ferret went to his spam mail, so he took the ferret
and turned it over To AC & C on 8/4 at 5:30 pm.
The place is supposed to have a mandatory 3 day hold, but the next day
the ferret was turned over to someone, I along with 2 others are trying
to locate this ferret. Calling the main call center is a mess of going
from one menu to another. I finally got through to a live person and I
had the iD number given to the ferret and all they could tell me was it
was no longer at AC & C. I asked, well what if this is my ferret and I
want it back? The woman said she could forward my info to where then
ferret was and have somebody call me back. The next day I did receive a
call from someone who works at the Linden st AC &C, not from where the
ferret was sent. This lady told me that the ferret went to a private
home and if I or someone else went to AC&C with proof of residence
outside NYC and maybe also go to NYC dept of health with proof of
residency I may be able to get the ferret. My friend also called, but
she was told the ferret had gone to a shelter. A third friend drove to
Brooklyn AC & c, and they would not give her any info. She also went to
Sean Casey rescue and they claim they dont have that ferret. My friend
who saw the ferret in the original CL post has fallen in love with the
ferret and really wants to adopt her, but AC & C is not giving out the
location and I doubt they are giving the people who have the ferret
out contact info. She live on LI where ferrets are legal. This is so
frustrating, we just don't know what to do next, any info or help
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Debbie
