I treat adrenal disease in my ferrets with both a Deslorelin implant
and a melatonin implant.

The length of time that the Deslorelin implant remains effective is
NOT based on the gender of the ferret. It's based on how advanced the
disease is, and the size of the adrenal tumor or tumors that are being
treated. A year is a reasonable amount of time to expect it to be
effective IF you're dealing with early adrenal disease. However, you've
been treating your ferret for 2 years already, so to be safe, you'd
probably want to re-implant with Deslorelin in another 6-8 months,
depending on when or if you see adrenal symptoms start to show again.
Melatonin implants should be done every 4 months, if not a little
sooner.

Lupron Depot and Deslorelin work in a similar way, so using both would
be redundant. However, melatonin works in a different way, so using
both Deslorelin and melatonin implants really hits the adrenal tumors
as hard as you can medically.
