[Mistakenly distributed as a stand-alone digest yesterday. Reposting
here as part of the normal daily digest. BIG]
The stupidest thing I ever did was the very *first* thing I did w/ my
very first ferret, Ariel. I bought her as a baby from a small breeder,
& when I got her (at age 10 wks), I had a fairly long drive home....
in very hot weather.....w/ a broken air conditioner in my car.
By the time I got her home & got her out of the carrier, she was laying
spread-eagle on the floor, & panting. She had severe heat exhaustion.
I had to get on the internet right away to figure out what to do
about it.
Fortunately, she recovered quickly after I gave her plenty of water,
put some of the water on her feet & neck, & turned a fan on, pointed
in her direction (in my already air conditioned home). She was my
baby, the love of my life, & I still miss her like crazy.
RIP Ariel, 2000-2007.
