Well, to me it seems that they are straight up lying. I emailed them
with the same problem a couple months ago and this was our conversation
(my first message is all the way down):

I was able to find a bag from that batch code. They are thicker than
usual, it is a normal batch variation. Your next bag should be smaller.

I have noticed that the kibble size of Totally Ferret has changed
recently but my ferrets seem to constantly choke on those bigger sized
