files section and I finally got around to it today.

Dr. Ruth Heller who is among the FHL moderators received a copy of the
permission for this article specifically to appear in the FHL.

Here is the FHL Files section

wonderful group of very knowledgeable ferret vets for the Alaska
Gathering in June 2014.

Here is a link to all the information regarding this event:
http://ferretcongress.org/2014-alaska/

It is quite a haul, and expensive for us in the lower states, but if
you have the ability at all to go to a symposium setting, it is well
worth the time and money. I've made such wonderful, life-long friends.
I have learned so much from having the ability to sit down to dinner
with ferret vets that truly love what [...]42_2Feb201410:39:[log in to unmask] 1402 276 22 13_Not [log in to unmask], 2 Feb 2014 08:34:21 -0600538_- Ok, I just heard from Mary and learned that when she took the puppy to
the vet, they said they had to inform her with the discharge from the
nose and other symptoms the puppy could have distemper. He was put on
medication and when she took him back for his check up, he had none of
the symptoms and so distemper was ruled out. This is a relief in many
ways but also a disappointment in getting to know if the ferret vaccine
would hold up............I think the relief won out but I wanted to let
you all know. [...]40_2Feb201408:34:[log in to unmask] 1402 299 45 77_Vitamin D can cause calcium deposits in vital ferret organs, two other topics14_Sukie [log in to unmask], 2 Feb 2014 01:35:04 -0500610_- Nobivac is fine, but Neovac has NOT been tested for effectiveness at
all yet, nor really for safety. It is important for people to remember
that they are different vaccines.

Be extra careful with Vitamin D use with ferrets or with dogs. Both can
rather easily get hypervitaminosis D which leads to calcium deposits
in organs like the kidneys and heart. Unlike people they do NOT have
a high need level of D needed. That is not surprising because they
are descended from burrow dwelling animals whose peak activity is
crepuscular (low light times like dusk and dawn) so their [...]33_2Feb201401:35:[log in to unmask] 1402 345 16 16_Lost ferret [OR][log in to unmask], 3 Feb 2014 16:30:44 +0000429_- I am posting on behalf of a friend whose ferret got out on Saturday. He
has been sited, but as usual people are terrified of the "Wild animal".
He was last seen of Yellowstone St in Monmoth, Oregon. Please call the
owner any time day or night if you have or have seen Yogi. He is a
large dark chocolate unneutered male approximately 3.5-4 pounds.
He recently had surgery so have a shaven stomach. [...]39_3Feb201416:30:[log in to unmask] 1402 362 82 56_2 special needs ferrets looking for a forever home in CA14_Kimberly Br

This was something to learn on using Vitamin A, I've used Vitamin D for
liver problems but not the A for anything. I am sending this article to
our vet. The lady who has the pup and the ferrets will be going to her
tomorrow. I am suggesting even without any symptoms to start all 4 on
the A. And to add to this, having used the Neobicav for a long time
now, I have never had a reaction. I keep the meds on hand in case and,
of course, the vet does the rabies but so far not one reaction.

Thank you Sukie.
