Critter Camp in IL will be in it again- we'd sure like to win IL this
round! We care for 17 sanctuary ferrets- elder, adrenal, etc We'd sure
appreciate the ferret community's support! It's hard for us competing
against the big Chicago shelters, but we can do it with everyone's
help! thanks!!

I have a ferret that I discovered has been peeing in one corner of my
apartment (on carpet). I would like your recommendations for getting
rid of the smell, etc. (I used a black light to find the spot easier.)
Thanks!

Hello,
Over the past few months you've noticed that some things have changed
with the manner that you receive communications from the Lakeroad
Ferret Farm. I would like to take a moment to clarify any confusion.
Brenda Johnson, aka Shelter mum, is still using
[log in to unmask] as her email. This is her main email and if
you wish to get in touch with her this is still the best option.
Since becoming a 501c3 not for profit shelter we have been embracing
some behind the scenes changes that makes it easier for many folks to
work together while living in different cities and states. One of
those changes was to create the [log in to unmask] account.
It is our intent to send out the monthly newsletter, 'rants and raves',
and any other global shelter announcements from this gmail account.
While Brenda does have access to this account she does not monitor
it as frequently as she monitors her frontier account. Instead this
account is monitored by Tori your website admin, and myself (Brie) your
forum admin. Emails received at the gmail account do not get lost, we
will either forward them to Brenda or answer them directly. However I
wanted to make sure that you all know that Brenda hasn't changed her
email.
Please accept my apologies for any confusion that this has caused.
Thank You,
Brie McCulley
LFFR\S Secretary

OK, I'm alittle behind on postings here....but did I miss someone else
getting freaked out about this?! I went to this hand-crafted goods site
(ETSY.COM) and searched for "ferrets". There are tons of great items
availalbe - from people clothing to ferret clothing to art....all kinds
of goodies! And then comes up a thumbnail photo of an actual dead
ferret for sale....and then another....and then photos of dead ferrets
for sale and a skull and then a ferret penis bone!!!!! Now I'm not sure
why anyone would want a preserved, dead ferret....but should it be sold
on this type of site? And, really, I don't want to see a thumbnail
photo of a dead anything! I try not to judge, but the shock of seeing
these things next to a bedding set was .... I can't say. I certainly
skipped ahead and missed whatever was next to it - sorry if your
handmade ferret item was listed and I didn't nsee it! Whether a dead
ferret or a dead piglet or ?....I would've been just as shocked.
Multiple, close-up photos and no warning that you're about to see
them.... wow

Today we did get rid of the Bad Car-Guys. Fasika was was a spectacle.
E.g., when counting the money I was returning to him, he began tucking
it under his crotch to separate the counted from uncounted bills. We
convinced him to put it in a bank envelope instead. There were a lot of
bills -- the currency's constantly being devalued against the dollar.
When all counting was done, but no papers signed, he grabbed the money
up and began stuffing it into his socks! I caught his hand and said he
had to wait till the papers were signed. He thought that was very
funny.
After all counting was done, he abandoned his share of the signed
papers, hid all the cash in his socks, and said he was off to buy some
goats with the money and that it was going to be a great investment.
He is a big, clean-cut athletic-looking guy, in his early 30's, I
think, Today he came alone. Yesterday his compatriots showed up in
force and they all stood around with their arms crossed, looking grim.
There were four of them, three of whom are big and/or muscular. Fasika
and Fekadu were dressed like gangsters -- well, mostly Fasika, who was
in a formal black shirt, pants, and shoes. I greeted them like old
friends. What could they do, remain all stiff and surly out in the
law-school parking lot? Maru (the lawyer) was also unfazed, and had
been smiling sweetly, talking with them as Abrahame and I came up.
Today Fasika arrived, 2 hours late, in semi-athletic garb, well after
Maru had had to go back to teach a class. But Maru'd drawn up the
sales-cancellation agreements by hand while we waited.
Look here for photos if you can't see them below:

Photoshop's a bit of a trial -- you'll have to click ea photo or view
them as a slideshow to see complete images.
