of them, but between being busy avaccine for ferrets?
If she gets the cold what do I do? Thank Chere McCoy

[Sounds like you have it too - "signigicant"... ;-)
Wait it out, unless your ferret gets into repiratory distress.
Don't worry about it any more than you would for yourself catching
it from your SO. Ie: no kissing - oh noooo!!! ;-)] [...]45_24Nov199113:40:[log in to unmask] 9111 740 34 19_Ferrets in the wild20_rebel without a [log in to unmask], 24 Nov 1991 9:46:53 HST656_- There was a short article in a recent Science News (SN:11/2/91, p.279)
that may be of interest to the folks on this list:

Prairie dogs beware: the ferrets are back

As of five years ago, predators and back-to-back epidemics had all but
extinguished the black-footed ferret. ith the help of state and federal
scientists, however, the species is weaseling its way out of extinction.
Biologists rounded up the last surviving community of these ferrets in 1986
to launch a captive-breeding program (SN: 9/6/86 p.151). Those 18 wild
animals provided the 49 juveniles that researchers have just finished
releasing into a [...]35_24Nov19919:46:[log in to unmask] 9111 775 236 11_GEnie input11_Jeb [log in to unmask], 24 Nov 1991 21:03:18 EST623_- Pet-Net RT

Chere McKoy - I would love to send you info on ferrets clubs and
other organizational hints if you will have someone send your ground
address via GEnie or snail mail to me. (703)354-5073 Pam Grant
Keeping ferrets out of potted plants: put the plants up out of reach.
Otherwise, try used coffee grounds, plastic "salad bar" container lids
taped on the rim of the pot, otherwise, but "Resolve" carpet cleaner.
Fresh smelling room a problem? Use Galde Plug Ins or add [...]45_24Nov199121:03:[log in to unmask] 9112 2 58 19_A ferret taste test34_Nancy Hartman CIS graduate [log in to unmask], 30 Nov 1991 23:53:30 -0500491_- I decided to conduct a small taste test to see what my ferrets really like
to eat. Although it's more than likely not indicative of what your ferret's
tastes will be, I still thought you might be interested. So, here's the
results...

I conducted this test with 8 different types of food. I put 1/3 cup
of each in seperate bowls, then just watched the order in which they
were consumed. You should also note, that there were only two subjects,
Percy and Bree. [...]38_30Nov199123:53:[log in to unmask] 9112 61 43 16_FERRET EXPO WEST12_Rick [log in to unmask], 01 Dec 1991 15:00:04 EST494_- PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This is along the line of ferrets being released in New Zealand:
I have heard (quite recently) that there may be something like this done
in the Mid-West with ferrets to help reduce the number of prairie dogs
that are out and about.

[If they found a big juicy prairie dog colony, they wouldn't waste it
on domestic ferrets, they'd reserve it for Black Footed Ferrets. I've
heard that there are one or two experiments going on right now with
reintroducing BFF's into colonies that have been found or "cultivated".
(BFF's are almost extinct because there are virtually no major prairie
dog colonies left)]

Probably just some WILD rumor eh?

Michelle
