I got Henry into the vet soon after posting my original message. The
vet said that Henry doesn't have a lower respiratory infection, and
probably not a blockage, either. He has normal poop. I'm supposed to
give him a laxative and Benedryl for 3 days. If he's not better by
then, he'll need antibiotics.
His cough has always been intermittent, generally only showing up
when he's really active or eating. Unfortunately, he didn't cough
loudly enough for the vet to hear him, even though he'd been really
moving around in his carrier just before the exam.
I was told that I was right to bring Henry in, even though his chart
probably has a big question mark on it.
We took him to the clinic where we take our dogs and cat, but they
don't know much about ferrets. My 4 other ferrets, Frankie, Mischief,
Zender, and Todd, received their deslorelin implants from one of the
top ferret vets in the US, but he's located more than an hour away.
