It was suggested to me that Jeep may need a cage mate. I have thought
about that and here is what I have come to.
Some ferrets are single by choice. I do not know where Jeep stands on
that. I could get another ferret and that could be simply war for the
two of them. Jeep was fine with others when I got him, he was in a cage
with others but then again he was a kit back then. Things in life
change.
Pete and RePete were sworn enemies. I could not let them out or be
together for five minutes where RePete would have Pete in a biting
painful strangle hold. Eventually one crossed the bridge suddenly and I
have no idea why, they were not together at that time but ferrets can
crash like that, and Pete did. He was such a good boy but he was not
where as cuddly as he was when RePete came on the scene. Repete lived
on for several years before he crossed. Both of these guys were rescues
so I really did not have any good idea of their age but both were at
least 6 years or more when they crossed.
So not knowing where Jeep stands on a 'friend' it would be not good to
do that. Kodo and Bud started out enemies but in time they got along
just fine. Again, things change.
SO for now Jeep will be by himself. He is adjusting to the Plexiglas
floors quite well. I have backing on every floor so they are not clear
and look solid, that seemed to help allot. I could tell the difference
in Jeep as he walked around in there. That backing gave him some
confidence he was lacking. The 'new' cage is working well for both of
us. He is happy, and I am happy. What more can a guy ask for besides a
cold beer !
