Other things that I do....

Put an ad in the Lost & Found in the local newspaper(s). My local
paper actually will list "found" items free for an indefinite period
of time.

Contact vets in the general area where the ferret was found, leaving
my name and number.

Put up "found" posters in the area where the ferret was found.

Also, have you checked it for a microchip?

One last thing----when I advertise a found ferret, I only say "found
ferret, call xxx-xxxx". I require any callers to give me the general
location as well as a description of the ferret, including sex and
coloring.

I have, on a few occasions, actually been able to reunite a ferret
with its owners. It doesn't happen often, but it's definitely worth
the effort.
