As with the International Ferret Congress

the SOS
http://supportourshelters.org
as well as Chewweasels and Foamy Fries, and much more those things
found their start and inspiration to arise from the Ferret Mailing
List.

The ferret community first had a lot of us who felt the lack of
information very strongly (and made our own mistakes due to lack of
info rather than these days when ignoring or not carefully weighing
info can lead to goofs).

During its middle age the FML had members who built a very wide range
of resources and let people know about new ones like when the first
veterinary text for ferrets finally came out (as well as later texts)
as well as participating in range of ferret causes like getting enough
info so that ferrets could be included in the rabies compendium.

Finally, in more recent years the needs for resources has become more
specialized and ferrets have become common enough pets that even though
there are still large strides to make they are more mainstream and
owner-provided resources are gradually being replaced by professional
ones.
