Good Morning,

So many of you nice people are asking for the status of the ferrets
rescued from two different hoarder homes within two weeks of each
other. The five, "Party of Five", rescued first from the house in
Moscow, Tennessee, and the pair of ladies rescued from a house in
midtown Memphis about two weeks later.

The "Party of Five" are doing very, very well and settling in nicely.
There is dental work yet to be done but they are now eating our shelter
mix and, slowly and steadily, their progress into healthy, happy
ferrets is underway. Gaining weight and their bodily functions are
showing signs of moving towards normalcy. Thank heavens!!! They will be
vaccinated Friday. We elected to wait as we wanted them a bit stronger
before we subjected their weakened little bodies to the vaccines to
prevent them from becoming ill because of the vaccines. They are as
sweet as they can be now....no more fear-biting. In fact, they still
crave love and attention....

The pair of very young ladies rescued last week are stable. We are
relieved they have lasted this long and we are hopeful this is just the
beginning of the long, long road to becoming healthy and happy girls
ready for their new "forever" home. They are young, about eight months
to a year we believe. They are no longer on IV fluids and are happily
and eagerly taking in the soupies by syringe -- and no more puking
and clawing at their mouths! They will continue their regimen of
antibiotics and appetite stimulants. They have a follow up with their
doctor on Friday also.

The girls are moving slowly but are up on all fours now! We are
crossing our fingers that they will not require dental - but their
mouths were soo infected when they were found - in fact, the black
sable had a broken tooth. No longer covered in feces and their paws
stained with urine and feces, they are squeaky clean and soo
comfortable in the soft, soft new blankies and sleepsacks. You can
see them smile as they rest.

My goodness! The last few weeks have been a blurr....

It is my sincere hope that all of these kids can completely recover
and either be adopted or fostered into loving, caring homes -- far
far away from the hell-holes they were all rescued from.

Respectfully submitted,
Maren E. Qualls
