HI FMLers,
Was wondering if giving a blood glucose test is something I should
always leave up to my vet or if it's something I could learn to do at
home. I recently lost my beautiful big boy Jack to insulinoma... he had
frequent seizures in the end and I was running him to my vet (almost
an hour's drive each direction) sometimes twice a week, where he would
always get a BG test that showed his blood count was tanking and then
medication. By the way, I've been reading the recent FML posts about
prednisolone vs. prednisone... I had Jack on a twice-daily dose of
prednisolone (not prednisone), which I understood from my vet, and from
several of you, was a short-cut to providing the necessary correction.
Anyway back to the subject, is the testing machine something I can buy
from a pharmacy, or online? And is the test something easy enough for
semi-ferret savvy people to conduct? I appreciate your input.
Leslie
