My ferret Sugar used to do that but with a large plastic bag. She would
get inside the bag and shuffle along to the water bowl and try to drink
through the bag. If she was lucky she had picked a bag with the holes
to stop children suffocating and some water could be obtained if not it
didn't stop her trying.
