Well, this isn't the same thing at all, but several years ago, my mouth
decided (well-before my brain realized how appropriate a title it was)
to call my newly-acquired, rescued ferret, Mr. Joe (whose name I stole
from a wonderful ferret-lady, Carmen, in Sacramento CA.) a Monkey-Head.
Ya know how, at the zoo, many of the monkeys will look you right in the
eye, grab the bars, one in each hand, and kind of bob their heads back
and forth, in what appears to be at least mock "If I could only get a
hold of ya...!!" THAT'S what Mit-ter Joe (which is how he liked his
name said) would do. He still is, by farfarfar the MOST intelligent
ferret I've ever seen, and on so many levels. He was WAY too smart for
MY own good, and LOVED hearing me tell him so.
He's been gone for about 10 years now (ok, now I'm crying), but in his
honor, I call all my ferrets monkey-heads. I happen to love the way it
sounds, and so do the ferrets. Sukie, I'll have to tell you my monkey
stories from 45 years ago. Also, I was in the 3rd-worst-hit area, in a
condo with several other people when Andrew decided that it would be
fun to re-arrange my brain's chem/hormone balance and neural firing
order (?). I know about brain/body after-effects. I bees sayin' big-ole
prayers for all y'all.Thank God the ferrets have you guys to interpret
and meet their needs. Geri Nanapush
