Wow! What a ride! Thank you all!
I am handling dozens of emails every day, not as well as I would like
because I am not getting them answered as fast as any of us would like,
I might even be loosing some. Charlie's Facebook page which we thought
would be better able to keep every one updated is a bee hive. You
people are incredible.
There are tons of offers and help every hour. Amazing. But all the
info is still not getting out so I'm here for a short, I hope, update.
#1 - the out pouring of support I was able to take to his people
convinced them he could not only find the right home but that we all
could get him there. No, hear me well, NO euthanasia. Wheww. They are
giving us time to get him East.
Speaking of east. Please remember since happily being buried alive in
this great out pouring of love, support and help, I have not had 2
seconds to turn around and things are beginning to move very rapidly
now. Do not forget I'm out here in the Wild West and there is a
significant time difference between most of you and me, and to
complicate that, we are night time people. Up at sundown, down at
daybreak. Add in the other factors like work, caring for my other kids,
keeping my fingers closely held to Charlie, his emails, Facebook page
(Charlie the Para/seizure Ferret), prepping him for his trip, and
trying to work out the details of his move, the list goes on and is
extensive, and I am - well buried alive. I promise each and every one
of you I read every single email and post, and I am so sorry if I miss
getting back in a timely fashion. I know you all agree that getting
things right for Charlie has to be, must be, my # 1 priority.
So where are we with Charlie tonight. I do not feel its in anyone's
best interest and would be extremely frustrating if I passed along
maybes and we'll sees. I like to deal in cold hard facts when I pass on
info, so until there are some to share, no maybes. But I can tell you
this much. We have been contacted by a second shelter closer to Mills,
which is where Charlie needs to be transported from, who is qualified,
medically and financially to handle his special issues. I have an offer
of ground transportation there. I have had several offers to fly him
(wow!) and even adoption offers, but in the least, flying could be
risky and we don't want to think about at the most. If he has to fly
it's a decision his medical team here would have to evaluate but we're
trying really hard to avoid it. I have contacted the person whose name
was put forward to drive him and detailed his medical issues. If she
is comfortable with his condition then we will have at least one hard,
fast, safe place he can go. This shelter mom has offered to keep him
for as long as he has or to hold him until we can work out a way to
move him, but the important thing is he will be where he is being cared
for and rehabbed.
I had intended to take Charlie's page down as soon as his move was
arranged, but have decided to leave it until he reaches a safe home
so you can all follow along as you wish.
Again, I can not thank each and every one of you enough, and I whole
heartedly apologize if it seems any one of you was less than important
to us. It is just that I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overwhelmed and I mean
that literally.
Blessings to each and every one of you. Charlie is alive and he is
going to stay that way because of you. That is no small thing.
Brenda and Charlie
