Little Kit's Christmas Miracle

On a silent night in winter time a tiny kit was born,
a little love, sent from above in blankets that were worn.
His mother knew in time to come her kits would be grown,
but as they grew, one little kit spent all his time alone.

In his eyes there was a peace that she had never seen,
and to his coat, there seemed to be a deep, angelic sheen.
She knew that he was special, though she didn't know just yet,
that he would be a saving grace not only "just a pet".

Days and months went by and all her other kits had homes,
but "Little Kit" , though strong and sweet was still there all alone.
Then one day it happened a sad woman came to her,
may I please have the little kit, the one with shining fur?

The woman left with "Kit" in hand on a day in winter mild,
she thought, this is my final try to somehow heal my child.
The child she loved was ill and he had not so many days,
she prayed for this small ferret, for it had to be the way.

She laid the ferret on his lap, his eyes grew open wide,
she placed his hand upon the kit and something changed inside.
Then one night before Christmas she watched a miracle take place,
where there had once been illness, now no longer was the case.

The child sat still with "Little Kit" his eyes gleamed so with love,
his mother cried, she knew this kit had come from up above.
On Christmas Eve, just like His Son, a miracle was told,
"Little Kit" stayed with the child until he grew quite old.

One day on spring, an angel came to take this ferret home,
the boy was sad but knew inside he'd never be alone.
His ferret who had brought him health that Christmas Eve before,
would always remain close to him behind his strong heart's door.
