also has Cancer. His Cancer is so bad that surgery is not an option.
The largest tumor is about the size of a quarter just above his one
kidney and he has about 5 or 6 more tumor starting all over around his
kidney's. With Skittles already having health problems and him being
older surgery would be risky just because of those two reasons, but
with the Cancer being as bad as it is and spread out like it is surgery
is just not an [...]42_8Apr201220:13:[log in to unmask] 1204 2759 35 34_Jake & Jasper and The Ferret Squad11_Linda [log in to unmask], 8 Apr 2012 14:34:50 -0400645_- I recently watched "Jake and Jasper: A Ferret Tale." It's a charming
and well done short film about a boy and his ferret. The acting was
quite good and the cinematography of the animals was wonderful. The
making of featurette on the DVD is also great, and talks about
misconceptions regarding ferrets.

The people who made this film are working on a full-length feature
called "The Ferret Squad," sort of The Goonies take on CA Fish and
Game! It sounds like a lot of fun and is just the sort of project
the ferret community should support whole-heartedly. [...]35_8Apr201214:34:[log in to unmask] 1204 2795 15 14_The Ferret 50014_Staci L. [log in to unmask], 8 Apr 2012 08:59:59 -0700340_- Hello :) Early registration ends tomorrow for The Ferret 500 :)

my DMK ferret on Rocky's Ferret & Rescue page on Facebook a few days
ago, so the timing is really good. I was trying to find out about what
illness are cropping up with them. I know a lot of the older ones died
within 1 year or so of the rescue. [...]33_8Apr201200:46:[log in to unmask] 1204 2875 55 25_Table of ferret tube info11_Nell [log in to unmask], 8 Apr 2012 12:16:05 +0300418_- I collected all my info into a table -- sources, descriptions, prices,
etc., and marked what I'd buy if I could. In the end, I decided to be
conservative, and opted for a New Rainbow Bridge 20-footer. I hear
they are great.

[Moderator's note: Nell sent an attachment to me. I've placed it on
the FML server as a PDF. BIG]

part of what make our days barable and give us strength. Without
them, I would have been lost so many times.

The 600-mile ride to Mom's was eventful in that it is difficult to
find a clean bathroom with a lock on the door while traveling, the gas
station attendant may turn out to be a preacher in need of an audience,
big 18-wheelers love to bump each other on mountain highways, and such
other incidents. We dropped off three ferrets for adoption along our
route, which is a fine [...]50_8Apr2

We have received two calls from this gentleman. We often get calls
from people who want to talk about ferrets--but then the conversation
wanders, because the caller is just plain lonely & needs someone to
talk to.

He told me he`s in charge of costumes & wardrobe usually, that he`s
going to be involved in a Benny Hill-type production that will have a
brief ferret shot in it, and that he needs to become familiar with the
animal. I gave him our website address & suggested he click on "About
ferrets." I told him I had written this fairly comprehensive piece
(from my point of view) and that it might help him.

We then continued to talk for 5-8 minutes more, until he got another
call.

Four days later, he called again--almost like an old friend LOL. The
conversation drifted -- his mind wandered -- he just seemed to need
someone to talk to. (Like a little kid.)

There`s a woman who calls us from time to time too. Origionally, she
was one of the few who called about adopting a ferret. She shares the
blow-by-blow description of all the cute & funny things her ferret is
doing. "Oh, now he has his head under the covers in his sleepy sack.
Oh, now he`s ducking in & out, trying to get me to play. Last night he
got into the bag of potatoes on the kitchen floor & tried hauling all
of them off! I wonder if they`re all this mischevious! How do you do it
with 127 of them?LOL" I just think she`s lonely & wants to share. Maybe
no one else shares her enthusiasm about ferrets. (I have experienced
that!)

It`s OK to keep your guard up, but there are lots of eccentric & lonely
people out there.

Maybe someone told him all ferret people are weird--and he`s doing some
kind of investigation for himself. (I`m sure he will discover we are.
Who else would give up everything to care for stinky little
weasels--and enjoy it LOL)

If he makes you feel uneasy, just tell him the truth--you`re sorry you
aren`t able to chat right now--you`re busy caring for the ferrets.

Love,
Zoo
