Chocolate, the (internet) famous "pan handling" dog from Florida is
sitting on death row at Miami-Date County Animal Services shelter in
Medley, FL waiting to be released to an individual (after the mandatory
7-day hold expires) who I'm working with (among others) to facilitate
his transportation from Miami, FL to Nacogdoches, TX after 6/29. There
was concern that Choco would be euthanized if he wasn't adopted by 6/30
but it looks like he will, for sure, be adopted as a number of people
have stepped forward to offer Choco a permanent home.

A "transportation train" has been established and as of Monday
afternoon, we still need drivers to get Choco from Pensacola, FL to a
shelter in E. Texas. probably some time during the first week of July.

If you happen to know of any animal welfare group that can assist (or
provide direction with) the transportation train OR if you can help
with Choco's transport if it's near a route you normally drive, PLEASE
contact me and I will put you in touch with the locals in FL who are
spearheading Chocolate's rescue.
