There is no perfect food approach whether manufactured, raw, homemade,
or whatever no matter what any extremists may declare, but since there
are known risks for all of these it pays to find ways to reduce the
risks specific to how the ferret is fed. The link below MIGHT be
helpful given a possible but understudied ingredient in some pet foods
though obviously not in all petfoods. This ingredient is currently
under investigation inrelation to human health and is in at least a few
pet foods, so check ingredients lists if you want since it crosses the
blood brain barrier.

BTW, what obligate carnivore means technically is that the diet has
to be high in animal protein sources to get suffient nutrition such as
the right types of amino acids for the species (since some can create
certain ones in the body butnot others and that ability varies among
species)
