I've asked this before because a while ago I had heard, on this list
that too much ferretone was bad for a ferret and that info stuck in my
head and it wont get out. The last time I asked I was told by several
that we shouldn't give too much too often but it wasn't as bad as I
had heard before.
I have an 8 ish year old girl who is adrenal and Insulinomic. She is on
0.6 ml of a 1/1 mix of prednisolone, twice a day. The problem is the
latest batches (we had it refilled/mixed a couple times). Ariel doesn't
like it very much. She used to take it off the spoon no problem but
since the new batches she doesn't like it and I have to drown it in
ferretone te get her to take it. We've gone back to the pharmacy (which
we've gone to for years) and they say the compound is the same and they
are mixing it the same. We've had them remix the meds twice now. The
old stuff was thicker and cloudy (it is beef flavor so its a brown
color). The new stuff is not cloudy and thinner. They say its the same
but I don't think it is.
So my question: Is giving her less than a teaspoon of ferretone twice
a day safe for her? We use a white plastic spoon (the kind you use at
picnic/open houses) for her meds and ferretone and the spoon would be
full with the meds and ferretone.
We are going back to the pharmacy again to see what is going on. We
may switch to another compounding pharmacy if this continues.
Thanks
Mike
