After conversations with Joel Mills, Customer Service at Midwest Metal,
new cage trays and shelves are on their way to us. The problem in this
case is in the material used for the trays. If you should have an odor
with any FN cages, remove the trays from the house and see if the odor
disappears before trying several ways to clean the odor from the cage.
It will save you a lot of time and headaches. Contact the address on
the box too. They have been very accommodating in this situation.

It is my understanding the cages have a new "no assembly required
model."
