It was a lovely day at de Bridge. SaraFerret was sitting in her rocking
chair just dozing and the kits were playing at her paws. All of a
sudden she was startled by a thump and a whoosh from her roof and then
a a soft crushing sound of something hitting the bushes outside. She
got up and went outside to check on what had happened. Sure enough! Up
popped Dexter, the little boy courier, with leaves in his mouth, and a
note in his paw. He struggled out and said,

"SawaFewwet, how come you has a bouncy roof now. I went off that thing
and into the bushes. Anyway, I has a message that a fewwet is cwossing
the Bwidge and her mommy wants you to gweet her. I don't know why she
wants you anyway. You best huwwy up, you know how the Boss gets when
you is late."

He handed me the note and I read it. Then I checked him over and he
wasn't scratched at all. (In fact, he looked at lot better than the
previous times when he had gone through the roof, so he should really
thank me for the new roof, but...). So I asked him to get the requested
ones and I flew off to the entrance, hoping I would be on time for
once.

Of course I wasn't. There was a darling little girl fuzzy with a heavy
backpack waiting for me. So I introduced myself,

"Hi I am SaraFerret and I am de bridgegreeter. Welcome to de Rainbow
Bridge. Dis is your new forever home. Here you will have no more pain
or suffering. You will run on green grass forever and have lotsa
friends. Did I mention de fun and games?"

She said, "My name is Lucy and my Mommy mentioned something about this
place. Do you happened to know her? Where are all my friends at? I
don't mean to be rude, but all I see is you. I guess you and me are are
about the same age, aren't we? I feel lots better, so why can't I just
go back home? Oh wait, I just remembered you said this is my new home.
Oh well, I guess I might as well get used to this place. I brought a
toy along with me to remind me of home. My angel really had a bear of a
time trying to stuff it into my pack, so I can't show it to you right
now. I'll have to wait till I get home. Where is home anyway?"

I replied, "Lucy, I don't know your Mommy personally. I have greeted
lotsa her fuzzies though. As to your friends, you will see them in a
little while. And this all is your new home, although you will live in
a cottage with your friends. But I have a surprise for you. You are
gonna get your own pair of wings, just like mine--well not exactly like
mine--yours will be special designed for you. They are great for flying
about the heavens--sure beats hopping from cloud to cloud. So if you
will follow me."

We went down de path to de Wing House where de wings were stored. We
opened de door and on de counter was a big box--of course. Lucy opened
de box and took out her wings--dark blue with silver tips-- perfect
for a fuzzy who had lived so long. I helped her put on her wings and
adjusted her halo. Then she ran to the big vanity mirror and gazed at
her reflection and then she turned to me and said, "Gee I wish Mommy
and Daddy could see me now." Then I gots an idea.

So we opened the door and went down the path to the Misting Pond. We
sat down beside the cool clear water and with one swish we saw the
vision of Mommy Laryssa and Daddy Bill appear. Lucy got so excited she
started waving and dooking with all of her might.

"I love you so much. Thank you for loving me. I am feeling lots better
now. I have pretty wings now and soon I will be able to fly. I brought
my toy with me, so if you are looking for it, don't worry. I haven't
seen my friends yet, but I have been told they are here. But its really
pretty here. I just didn't want you to worry about me. I am safe now."

Then she began to throw hugs and kisses and laid them on a nearby
shooting star which was headed to your house and by the time you should
read this it should have landed there. And with another swish the
vision was gone.

We went down another road where we were met by a group of fuzzies who
rushed up to introduce themselves, "Hi Lucy, I am Okojyo, I am Zip, I
am Mango, and then Kieran." So all together we continued on to the
cottage where Lucy could see another group of fuzzies gathered around
three cottages. "My, she said, "Who are all these ferrets?" Mishka ran
up to welcome her. Then Data, Fisher, Freya, and White and loads of
others all rushed over to say hi. (Lucy whispered to me that I sure
wasn't kidding when I told her that she was gonna have lotsa friends
here). Then she saw all the food laid out on the tables. All the food
so forbidden on earth. Chocolate, Pepsis, Squirt Cheese and crackers.
Then music started playing. And Lucy decided to unzip her pack and took
the cloth Pokemon. For sure that angel had had his work cut out for him
stuffing that thing into the pack. Everyone looked on in wonder and
reached over to touch the piece of home.

Then the party began. And everyone started to dance and eat and all
sadness was gone. I was invited to dance and snack on the food. But I
decided I had best go on home and check on the bouncey roof to see if
just by chance a courier had damaged it. So I gave Lucy a hug and told
all a good bye.

So ended another greeting at the Rainbow Bridge.
