Hmmm squirrels & ferrets eh- not gonna work together, but separately
sure- Wolfy is right- the squirrel si agiant mouse so the ferret will
try to catch & eat it, whereas the squirrels is way toughter and more
destructive that expected and willcertainlya vhe the ptoential to kill
the ferret.
Basically you'd have the old shark vs lion , bear vs tiger battle-
not good. Now certainly depending on your set up you can house them
comletely separatly & never the twain shall meet- then its fine. If you
have competely secure areas for each, plenty of out of cage time for
each separately then it will work. Just make sure there are no slip
ups. We have a ferret room where the 21 ferrets are free range and live
out their lives in comfort & ease. We house nothing else in there. The
ground squirrels are in another room but caged. They are not handleable
and have a large area to burrow & hang out in.
Most squirrel speicies do not lend themselves to being handled- they
are by nature skittish, fast and bite and claw harshly. Their teeth
are menat to crack open nuts, their claws to climb trees with. They
are prey animals so they flinch and fight when grabbed. Ferrets are
predators they do not instinctively try to escape or fight back. Thats
why cats, dogs & ferrets are good pets - they are all predators, and
its why hamsters, gerbils and mice bite more than the other pets.
