Wow. Ask and yee shall receive. Shortly after posting about Mike Tysons
new show on Animal Planet, several private emails arrived in my box
that gave me insight into quite a disgusting story regarding the two
little ferrets.
What I don't understand about this whole thing is this: when dogs were
found abused at one of Mike Vicks homes that he didn't even live in
much of the time, if at all, he was automatically held responsible. I
"think" a film clip had indeed been found with him present at a dog
fight. But it didn't matter if they had found one or not. He still
would have been held responsible to some degree because you are
responsible for EVERY THING that occurs on your own property. How many
law suits do we hear about from someone slipping on a step on any given
property? An owner of a rented home can live in another state, and if
someone he hires (even if by the manager and not them) accidentally
burns the home down ... they are held accountable. I know this from
personal experience (don't worry, I was not the firebug). I thought
this was true any where in this country. Mikey Boy was far more famous
and liked than Iron Mike. And all the money and favoritism in the world
didn't save him. I feel like it was the city, county and/or state must
have either failed at its job, or has incredibly inadequate laws.
It's SO aggravating because as Lissette said, it would be incredibly
satisfying not to mention a valuable weapon if we could throw the
ferret incident up at Animal Planet. But he got off. As Lissette said,
possibly the route to go, if you'd like to step up and complain, is to
present the case about the wee ferrets but to lean hard on the ethics
issue regarding his violent criminal record. No criminal with his "rap
sheet" should be ever be"honored" in the way that they are doing, let
alone presenting him as the most gentle of animal lovers in charge
of one of the most fragile species on earth. Sickening. Yes, it is
probably far to late to get the show canceled. Far too much money
has been invested and far too many contracts were signed, I'm sure.
However, it can be yanked early just as any other show. And for certain
this could affect future decisions made by AP.
Thanks to everyone for providing me with the entire story and most of
all for providing the contacts for me and anyone else who cares to take
a minute to complain.
