I didn't mean to give the impression that I had seen a study
relating caging of ferrets to shorter life spans.  The only info I
have on that is two vets (my present and former) who told me that
being in cages causes ferrets stress, which causes them to live a
much shorter life (four to seven years, as opposed to seven to twelve
years).
