George is our 7+ year old chocolate ferret who has insulinoma (maybe
starting adrenal because his fur is coarse and thinning on his abdomen.
He is on 0.8 mls of a 1mg.1ml prednisolone solution. twice a day. He
also gets pepcid with his meds. He gets 15 mls of pureed chicken mixed
in water with his meds.
We've seen some hind end weakness, and he just didn't look like he felt
very good, but we also seen him get into a crinkle sack and dig away at
it. We took him to the vet today and his glucose was 88, he was alert
and bright eyed.
Upon physical exam while running his fingers down his back he found an
area that George just didn't like him pushing on.
It appears he has something going on with his spine. Not sure if its a
disc problem or not. This also may account for his curling his back
toes sometimes.
Our vet said the treatment would be pred (which he is already on). Our
vet said he could do some x-rays to be sure, but that would cost about
$135. Right now we have every other bill under the sun coming is so we
did not opt for this.
We are going to continue to watch him. I'm relating this second hand
since my wife took him to the vet. It sounded like this may correct
itself given some time.
Has anyone else had something like this?
Mike
