Please, any Bridge greeter, would you look for Stitch and Jazzy and
make sure they made it safely to the Bridge? Jazzy left on 9/30/2010.
She had undergone surgery to remove a huge mass from her liver and she
came through the surgery ok but she crashed and died during recovery.
We really don't know why but there are theories. Jazzy came to me with
her sister Snickers in June 2007. I had received a call from my vet
about Snickers and medical problems she was having that her owners
didn't have the money to pursue and they asked if I could help. I said
yes and when I went to pick up Snickers she had her mate Jazzy with
her as well. The owners said they brought her too so she would not be
alone. Whatever! But I got a beautiful silver mitt baby as well so all
was good. Jazzy was a sweet girl who liked to play with her buddies.
She was found frequently curled up with one of them. I have two rooms
that are separated by baby gates because two ferrets in one area like
to beat up on the two in the other but Jazzy could be on either side. I
frequently found her in the one area when I didn't remember putting her
in there and I think the little girl found she could climb the gate,
using the tension bar as a ladder. She was pretty adventurous in that
way! Snickers is still with me.
Stitch, well, Stitch was my big sable boy who came to live with me
with his buddy Gideon when his previous family was moving and couldn't
take them with them. Gideon left us 2 years ago. Stitch had battled
insulinoma for over 2 years. It is amazing how well he did for most
of that time with BGs 60 and below. I guess his body adjusted to the
gradual decrease. He started getting that pred belly from 2 years of
the stuff and it was difficult sometimes for him to walk but he still
managed to move about and explore. Then he was diagnosed with
cardiomyopathy recently and we couldn't get the meds adjusted in time
to help him. He crossed during the early morning hours Wed last week.
My regret is that I didn't take him to bed with me as I was tempted to
do but he really wasn't comfortable being held so I opted to leave him
in his bed which for reasons known only to him he left and was on the
floor when I found him.
Stitch was my ambassador ferret when he was healthy. He went with me
to the open house of my vet for her clinic's 10th anniversary so that
people who came could see and pet a ferret and learn about them if
they liked. He also was the representative of my ferret family at the
Blessing of the Pets service at my church for 2 years straight. He was
a gentle and loving baby who would give the best kisses after he had
his duck soup. Of course I came away with duck on my face but who is
complaining. I would love to have that again!! Anyway, make sure Stitch
and Jazzy have been found by all the babies that I have had go before
them. There is quite a crew already there and I am sure they have their
home all set up and have welcomed them but I would like to know for
sure. Especially make sure Stitch and Gideon find each other. Tell
them Stitch and Jazz I am sorry I wasn't with them when they crossed
and tell everyone how much I miss them all.
