The answer to that is that the length of time that they are effective
can vary widely based on the condition of the ferret that is getting
the implant.

If they are being used to prevent adrenal disease in a ferret who does
not have it, then they are expected to be effective for 12 months or
more, possibly as long as 18 months.

If they are being used in a ferret with early adrenal disease, then
they can remain effective for 9-12 months, and possibly longer,
although I personally would not go beyond a year.

If they are being used in a ferret with advanced adrenal disease or an
adrenal carcinoma, then the Deslorelin implant should probably be done
every 4-6 months.

Deslorelin implants, like other non-surgical treatments for adrenal
disease, can only slow the growth of the tumors, they cannot reverse
the disease. The best non-surgical treatment would be to use both a
Deslorelin implant and a melatonin implant.
