I didn't think I would be writing again so soon, but we have lost
another ferret, this time a shelter kid.

Last Thursday, we took Milo to the vets office, for general weight
loss, Anemia and general malaise. (We had put him on Iron drops fort
Anemia, Pred for appetite)

When these things did nothing to help him feel/get better, we took him
to see Dr. Katie. She took an x-ray and did some blood work, and
neither one looked good.

The blood work showed that he had almost NO red or white blood cells
left, and the x-ray show what looked like metal flakes in his stomach.
We tried to prep him for a blood transfusion, but the doc couldn't get
a vein to use, they kept collapsing.

At this point, the only thing left to do was to let him go, and that's
what we did and Milo will be missed.

After getting home and doing the shelter cleaning, I noticed that one f
the shower curtain hooks that are often used to hang bedding and hold
things in place, showed signs of maybe being chewed on. Most of the
plating was missing on two of the hooks that were in his cage. One was
holding a litter box in place, and the other was holding up a hammock
that Milo frequented.

Milo was a very sweet boy and didn't deserve this kind of death, this
was just one of those things that we never thought was a danger.
Hopefully others will be aware of this danger too.
