For your highly informative post on the Alpha Trak. I love learning! We've found that some ferrets simply clot too fast to be gotten from a stick, but have not learned techniques for syringing out blood because that is too tricky. We DO find that the needles of syringes have a better chance as the stick (instead of hte lance) of getting blood, but again some of ours simply clot so easily that we can't get readings with the amount of blood available. Some people prefer sticking the tail, some prefer sticking the paw, some the ear flap. If the location is warmed the chances of getting enough blood improve.
